Patricia Ann Shrake, 80, of Troy, Ohio passed away at 8:00AM on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at her residence. She was born on April 17, 1931 in Woodsfield, Ohio to the late Harley and Hazel Cunningham Vosper. She married Richard L. "Dick" Shrake on July 6, 1957 in Massillon and he preceded her in death in 2009. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Earl Vosper in 2004 and brother-in-law, Don Laflin in 2001. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Dr. Guy and Susan Shrake of Liberty Township and Doug and Joanne Shrake of Westerville; daughter, Beth Shrake of Troy; sisters, Gretchen Laflin of Kent, Ohio, Nancy Tom Straughn of Massillon and Flo Warren Trenary of Mason; grandchildren: Collin, Kaitlyn, Laura, Jessica and Christian Shrake. She will be remembered by her 11 nieces and nephews and will be missed by lots of family and friends who loved her dearly. Pat was a 1949 graduate of Canton Lincoln High School, a 1953 graduate of Bowling Green State University and received her Master's in Education from Wright State University in 1989. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Troy for over 40 years. She was active as a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Church Council and United Methodist Women. Pat taught in Cleveland and in Cincinnati before coming to Troy. She retired in 1994 from Troy City Schools after 22 years of teaching at Cookson, Forest and VanCleve Elementary Schools. Pat will be remembered for her cheerful personality and her caring spirit that touched everyone around her. Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 Noon Saturday September 3, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Troy. Friends may visit with the family two hours prior to service from 10-12 at the church. Memorial Contributions may be made to Troy Lunch Club.
