OSCAR ADKINS, age 87, of Troy, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Brookdale of Troy.  He was born on January 12, 1929 in Greenup, KY to the late Johnie Linville and Edna Lee (Morris) Adkins.  On October 15, 1949, he married Iona M. (Archey) Adkins.  She preceded him in death in 2009 after 59 years of marriage.

Oscar is survived by three daughters: Linda (Gary) Johnson of Tipp City, Beverly (David) Browning of Troy and Kathy (David) Foster of Springfield; one son: James (Marsha) Adkins of Clewiston, FL; one sister: Flora Chaffins of Troy; and three brothers: Daniel L. "Jack" (Eldean) Adkins and George (Jenny) Adkins, both of Tipp City and Doug (Carolyn) Adkins of Beavercreek; seven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.  In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Clyde Adkins, Randy Adkins and David Adkins.

Oscar worked for 42 years at Hobart Manufacturing – Sunshade Division.  He also worked for Gillis Cab for many years.  Oscar was a member of Troy Fish and Game.  He enjoyed yard work and gardening.

Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Baird Funeral Home in Troy with Chaplain Mollie McGee officiating.  Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery in Tipp City.  Friends may call from 12:00-2:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
