(Wick) Vorpe
May 14, 1923 – January 28, 2017
Oma Lucille (Wick) Vorpe, age 93, formerly of Troy, Ohio passed away on January 28, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. She was born in Shelby County, Ohio on May 14, 1923 to the late Hudson Ray and Bessie (Wright) Wick. On October 1, 1943, she married Stanley C. Vorpe. Dr. Vorpe preceded her in death on January 28, 1984.
She is survived by two sons: Lowell (Wendy) Vorpe of Bellbrook, OH and Richard W. (Evelyn Matteucci) Vorpe of Davis, CA; two daughters: Sandra Ehrlich of Troy and Brenda (Michael) Gallagher of Cincinnati; one sister: Ruth (George) McMillan of Piqua; seven grandchildren: Lisa (Todd) Denlinger, Jeff Vorpe, Rebecca Vorpe, Jonathon Vorpe, Michael Gallagher Jr., Daniel Gallagher and John Gallagher; and five great-grandchildren: Christopher Denlinger, Matthew Denlinger, Andrew Denlinger, Hannah Denlinger and Adalynn Gallagher. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Marvin Wick and sister, Vesta Partington.
Oma was formerly employed by the Welfare Finance Department in Sidney and the Board of Education in Troy. She graduated Valedictorian of her 1941 class from Fairlawn High School (Green Township School). She attended the Springfield Business School.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Troy where she served as a Deacon, Elder, Vacation Bible School volunteer and was a member of the Women's Association. She was also involved in the Troy community through the Mother's Study Club, Current Events Club, Quilt Club, Altrurian Club and was a lifetime member of the Troy Historical Society. In addition, Oma served for many years as an election site presiding judge for the Miami County Board of Elections.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 11 at the First Presbyterian Church in Troy, OH with Rev. Ed Sensenbrenner officiating.
A private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
