Norris Young Norris Young, a lifetime resident of Elizabeth Township died Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at the age of 89. He was born February 7, 1921 to Bill and Bessie Myers Young. His wife of 61 years, Mary Alice Cusac Young, preceded him in death 10 months prior. Also preceding him in death was his only sibling sister, Betty Young Merritt. He is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Alice Young and Janie and Bill Hershberger; grandchildren, Lucas, Joshua, Jacob and Alicia Hershberger; great-granddaughters, Emma and Ella Hershberger; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Mary Ann Cusac; several nieces, nephews, and cousins of the Merritt, Cusac, Myers, Benham, and Young families; and special friends, Doris Beeson, Patty Taynor, and Julie Brewer and family. Norris was a third-generation Jersey Breeder and showman. He raised, milked, and showed Jerseys at the Miami County Fair for 70-plus years and the state and national levels. He was a 4-H advisor for many years and was inducted into the Ohio State Fair Hall of Fame in 1983. He was a member of the Miami Valley Jersey Breeders, Ohio State Jersey Breeders, American Jersey Cattle Association, Miami County Farm Bureau, Cove Spring Grange and Cove Spring Church. Services will be held 10:00AM Monday, June 7, 2010 at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, Ohio with Pastor Evan Garber officiating. Interment will be held in Casstown Cemetery, Casstown, Ohio.
