Dr. Norman Gene Short, age 71 of Troy, Ohio died October 18, 2001. Born of the late, Byron W. and Mable F. Moyer Short, he is survived by his wife of 42 years, Dianne Harrod Short; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and William F. Seimer Jr.; son, David E. Short; grandchildren, Emma and Benjamin Seimer; brother, Mark D. Short and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Jane Harrod and Robert Barnette. Dr. Short was an active member of the St.John's United Church of Christ including the choir. He was a charter member of the Troy Noon Optimist Club; a U.S. Army Veteran and a former member of the Troy Jaycees. He was a 1948 graduate of Troy High School and 1954 graduate of The Ohio State University School of Optometry and a member of the Lambda Chi Fraternity. Dr. Short opened his practice of optometry in Troy in 1956 and retired in 1993.
