Obituary

Norman E. Schaefer, age 93, of Piqua, OH passed away on March 27, 2024 at Piqua Manor.  He was born on January 24, 1931 in Casstown, OH to the late John H. and Mary E. (Minnich) Schaefer.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Jeffrey E. and Carol Schaefer of Piqua; daughter and son-in-law: Jill E. and Willard C. Camm of Findlay, OH; daughter-in-law: Evanna M. Schaefer of Portage, IN; twelve grandchildren: Jennifer Blankenship, Michael E. Schaefer, Elizabeth Fincel, Angela Mayse, Dana K. Roach, Mary E. Morrow, Jon "Jason" Schaefer, Katherine M. Fanzo, Eric Schaefer, Christopher Camm, Benjamin Camm and Mary Enderbury; 32 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and his nieces and their families.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Ruth E. (Moats) Schaefer; son: Jon E. Schaefer; son-in-law: Daniel M. Kaylor and two brothers: Lester W. Schaefer and Michael M. Schaefer.

Norman served his country in the US Army.  He was a 1949 graduate of Troy High School and the American Television Electronics School.

He was formerly employed as a television service engineer and worked with Dare Electronics.  He formerly owned and operated Spin-Cast Plastics.  He was an Indiana representative for Irwin Seatings and started the Senior News in South Bend, IN.  He formerly owned and operated the Best Little Car Wash in New Carlisle, IN and he was also a licensed real estate broker.

He was a member of the Troy Church of the Nazarene and former member of the Lions Club in New Carlisle, IN.  He and his wife loved to travel in their motor home.  He was a private pilot and enjoyed flying his own plane.

Service will be held at 12:00PM on April 11, 2024 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, OH with Pastor Steve Marcum officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00AM – 12:00PM.  Interment will follow in Casstown Cemetery, Casstown, OH with military honors.
