Nicholas Drake Duff, son of Jonathan Drake Duff and Regina Taxis Duff was killed in a one car accident near Troy, Ohio in the evening of the 24th of January, 2003. Nicholas or Nick as he was known, had been to Troy and met up with a friend, Zack Perry, the driver of the car. The two boys were traveling to another friend's house when the accident occurred. No one survived the accident. Nick had a zest for life that only a few persons are privileged to possess. His ready smile and quick wit made him a friend to many. Nick loved sports of all kinds, especially weight training and he had recently taken up skiing, however his PASSION was football. He played varsity football as a starting player when only a sophomore and held the key to a very promising football future. Nick was a sophomore at Miami East High School and was active in the Miami East Chapter of F.F.A. He was a member of the Farrow to Finish 4-H Club, showing barrows and gilts. He had helped his father in his hog business since he was old enough to own his own pair of Carhearts. Nick's young life was cut short just before his 16th birthday and we know not why, but it can be said he lived every minute to it's fullest. For him life was filled with sunshine and laughter. He brought happiness to others with his quick hugs and '' I love you too's.'' We must remember him and his warm and friendly manner and only dream of the man he may have become. Nicholas is survived by his parents, Jon and Regina Taxis Duff; sister, Jenna; grandparents, Max and Sara Duff; Tom and Joann Taxis; aunts and uncles, Pat Taxis; Chris and Marilyn Duff; Jon and Mindy Laughman; Omer and Lucia Duncan; Rita Dotson. He will missed by his cousins, Amy, Josh and Sean Taxis; Stefanie and Zack Duff; Mallory, Jesse and Madee Laughman and Veronica and Jon-Max Dotson. He leaves a host of friends and neighbors as well. Nick was baptized in the Christian faith and recently had been attending Fletcher United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made to Miami East High School program or donors choice of charity.
