Nicholas Joseph Braun Nicholas Joseph Braun, age 85, of Troy, Ohio, passed away at 10:52AM, Monday, January 25, 2010 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy, Ohio. He was born on October 27, 1924 in Troy, Ohio to the late Joseph and Dora Suerdieck Braun. In addition to his parents, Nick was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Metcalf Braun on January 8, 2000 and three sisters: Helen Vonderhyde, Dorothy Braun and Mary Cricket Snell. Survivors include four children: Marilyn James Battin of Powell, Ohio, Nicholas Thomas Braun of Troy, Jennifer Don Maulucci of Sarasota, Florida and James Robert Braun of Troy; sister, Rozann Attenweiler of Kingston, New York; two grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Griffin of Sarasota, Florida and Kelly Ann Blizman of Perry, Georgia; three great-grandchildren: Curren, Taylor and Aidan Griffin and a special companion, Martha Crouse. He was a graduate of Troy High School, class of 1942 and University of Dayton in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. Nick was a WWII Army Air Corps Veteran. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Troy and a life member of Knights of Columbus. Nick was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter and especially loved taking family fishing trips to Canada. He worked at the family company, Braun Brothers Packing Co., Troy, through 1962. He worked at Hobart Corp., Troy, until his retirement in 1981. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, January 29, 2010 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Troy, with Rev. Fr. James Duell officiating. Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Troy, with VFW Memorial Honor Guard Services at the Graveside. There will be no public calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church Soup Kitchen, or St. Vincent de Paul Society, both in care of St. Patrick Catholic Church, 409 E. Main Street, Troy, Ohio 45373.
