Nelson D. Wackler, age 81, of Troy, OH passed away peacefully on Friday, December 12, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 4, 1933 in Pleasant Hill, Ohio to the late Luther and Helen (Brandt) Wackler. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia (Hitchcock) Wackler.

Nelson is also survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Jodi and Doug Minneman of Union; Jamie and Dave Gregorovic of Troy; Jeri and John Drozd of Midland, TX; five grandchildren: Matt and Leah Minneman, Drew Gregorovic, Hunter and Cora Drozd and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Nelson was preceded in death by his brothers: Ned and Eugene Wackler and twin brother: Norman Wackler; and sister: Miriam Hartley.

Nelson was a Korean War Veteran serving in the US Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post #586, Tipp City; and Elks Lodge #833 B.P.O.E., Troy. He retired from TWA after 33 years of service and then following retirement he was a truck driver with Wagner Paving of Laura.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, OH. Services will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, December 18, 2014 at the funeral home with Pastor Pam Hitchcock officiating. A private graveside service will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Troy, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County, PO Box 502, Troy, Ohio 45373.

Nelson blessed the life of everyone who knew and came to love him because of his integrity, sense of humor and genuine interest in knowing others. No one could kindle a warm heart and bring a smile to someone's face quite like he could.
