NAOME H. "Nonie" Meyer, age 92, formerly of Troy and Greenville, OH passed away Friday, October 31, 2014, at SpringMeade Healthcare Center, Tipp City, OH.  Nonie was born on September 19, 1922, in Troy, OH to the late Ben Herr Horton and Ampthia Naome (Flynn) Horton.  She was married to Louis E. Meyer and he preceded her in death on October 2, 2010.

Nonie is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Thomas R. and Peggy A. Meyer of Dayton; Timothy E. and Jean L. Meyer of Prospect; daughter and son-in-law: Nonie L. and Danny T. Chick of Powell; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law: Ben and Doris Horton.

She was a graduate of Tippecanoe High School.  She was a member and past president of the Troy Elks Lodge Auxiliary; League of Women's Voters; and a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Troy.  Nonie previously served as a clerk in the tax department of the Miami County Courthouse.  She was an active volunteer.  Some of her volunteer work included Meals on Wheels in Greenville.  Nonie was also a reading tutor, volunteer and assisted people with their taxes through the Greenville Public Library.  And she wrote a weekly column about Wayne Lakes for the Greenville Advocate Newspaper.

A memorial visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Friday, November 7, 2014, at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy.
