Obituary

NANCY KESSLER STICHTER Nancy Katherine Stichter, 83, of SpringMeade in Tipp City, formerly of Pleasant Hill, died Saturday, August 9, 2008 at 2:30 A.M. She was born to the late Lester W. Kessler and Katherine Yantis Kessler. She will be missed and remembered by her husband, Roy H. Stichter of 60 years, her two daughters and sons-in-law Diane and Gary McMullin of Indiana, Carol and Tony Fessler of Pleasant Hill and three grandchildren, Brian Brammer and fiancée Marie Lataquin of Texas, Zane Fessler and Amber Fessler of Pleasant Hill. Born in Troy on February 15, 1925, Nancy graduated from Troy High School in 1943. She then attended the Dayton Jr. Association of Commerce Aviation Ground School and took classes in Meteorology, Navigation, Civil Air Regulations, and General Service of Aircraft. She received her diploma in October of 1943 and became a member of the WASP organization Women's Army Service Pilots. Nancy married Roy Stichter on May 7, 1948. Nancy and Roy lived in Pleasant Hill, for 44 years. She started working for Newton Local School as Secretary to the Superintendent around 1964 and continued for the next 21 years until she retired. She helped in many areas of the school, even served as clerk-treasurer for awhile. She was inducted to the Newton Hall of Fame in May 2008, and was an honorary member of Newton's FFA and National Honor Society. Nancy was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ and was currently attending Ginghamsburg Methodist Church of Tipp City. While in Pleasant Hill, Nancy was a Girl Scout leader for 5 years, served as an officer in the Volunteer Firemen's Auxiliary, was President and Treasurer of the Pleasant Hill TOPS Club, and was secretary and Team Captain of the Rebecca's of Pleasant Hill. Nancy continued to be involved with many activities at SpringMeade, where she won several awards for the ceramics that she made with the Ceramic Group. She was a member of the Troy Senior Citizens Center and the Greenville Shuffleboard Club. Calling Hours are 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday August 14th, at the Baird Funeral Home, 555 N. Market St., Troy. Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday August 15th, with Nancy Boedeker, Lay Minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Miami Memorial Park in Covington, Ohio.
