Obituary

Warner, Mildred Margaret Freeh Mildred "Milly" Warner, age 85, of Troy, Ohio died suddenly on Friday, August 22, 2008 with her children by her side. She was born February 26, 1923 in Easton, PA to Francis and Elizabeth Freeh and was one of eleven children. She grew up on a farm in Rieglesville, PA during the depression, a factor that led her to always value family. She was educated in Haycock and was salutatorian of her high school class. She graduated from the Sacred Heart School of Nursing in Allentown, PA and worked as a registered nurse in Flushing, NY and Doylestown, PA. She also served as a stewardess for American Airlines and met her husband Ellis R. Warner, Jr. Duke while working in New York. They were married on April 12, 1947 and moved to Doylestown, PA to start their family. They were later to live in Reading and West Chester, PA before moving to Troy in 1973. She was an avid bridge player, voracious reader, skilled seamstress and accomplished gardener until her death. She was a loving and supportive wife and a wonderful mother who viewed her role of raising children as her most important one. She was also a mentor and teacher to new bridge players; her skill at the bridge table was admired by her friends. She was proud of achieving her life master designation in 2000. Milly was a longtime parishioner at St. Patrick Church in Troy. In addition to her deep faith, she was blessed with intellectual curiosity, a love of classical music and impressionist paintings, and the gifts of tolerance and empathy. Milly is survived by her children Gail Warner-Lidondici Ron, Chris Sandiford Paul, Richard Anna, Paula Kurtz Bill, Ellis "Casey" Warner III, Mary Scott Michael and Jonathan Jenny; grandchildren Stephanie Rogers Lawler, Matthew, Ellis IV Dana, Mark, NoorLiza, Shelby, Lydia, Emma and Jonathan; and great-grandchildren Trey and Chloe. She also leaves her remaining siblings Kit, Louie, Terrie, Essie, Janet and Helen; sister-in-law Elizabeth, and thirty-one nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Duke, her husband of forty-eight years, daughter Maria, and her siblings Paul, Bob, Mary, and Frank. A Mass will be held Tuesday August 26, 2008 at 10:30AM at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Troy with the Rev. Fr. James Duell officiating.
