Mildred C. Gagnon, age 88, of Troy died Saturday, March 7, 2009 at the Caldwell House, Troy, OH. She was born February 9, 1921 in Michigan City, IN to the late Bert and Josephine Tokarski Mazurkiewicz. She is survived by her children, Tom Sue Gagnon of Troy, OH; Larry Kathleen Gagnon of Bellbrook, OH; and Sue Bill Weber of Ft. Wayne, IN; eight grandchildren, Theresa Jamie Dewing; David Sheila Gagnon; Frances Gagnon; Kristin Dustin Poole; Joshua Weber; John Weber; Emily Kyle Goubeaux; and Matthew Jessica Gagnon; and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur F. Gagnon on September 27, 2004; brothers, Erwin and Thomas; and sister, Adeline. She was a graduate of Westville High School in Westville, IN and a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Troy. She was a WWII US Veteran serving in the Women's Army Air Corp and served in the European Theatre. She and her husband, Art, were married in Rome, Italy, on July 10, 1945, after the war. Her life evolved around her family and her church. She brought joy and happiness to the many lives she touched. The family appreciates the loving care she received at the Caldwell House for over four years. A mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at the St. Patrick Catholic Church, Troy, OH with the Rev. Fr. James Duell officiating. Interment in Riverside Cemetery, Troy, OH with veterans honor guard service at graveside. Friends may call on the family at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, OH on Tuesday from 6-8 PM.
