Mildred M. Berning Mildred M. Berning, age 92, formerly of Troy, Ohio, more recently of Tipp City, Ohio, died Thursday, March 31, 2011 at SpringMeade HealthCenter, Tipp City. She was born on December 16, 1918 in Arthur, Illinois to George Howard and Lydia Elizabeth Harding Butts. She married Cletus W. Berning on November 26, 1946 and moved to Troy, Ohio. Cletus preceded her in death on June 16, 1999. In addition to her parents and husband, Mildred was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Mildred is survived by one son, Randal Berning of Cincinnati, Ohio; one daughter, Victoria Rosen and her husband, Daniel, of Charlotte, Vermont; two grandchildren, Rafael Rosen of Guilford, Vermont and Elena Rosen of Charlotte, Vermont; and a special friend, Maureen Pease. She graduated from Burnham City Hospital School of Nursing in Champaign, Illinois where she worked for five years. She worked as a registered nurse at Stouder Memorial Hospital from 1946 until retirement in 1986. She enjoyed her years of nursing very much. Mildred served on the Board of the Miami County Health Department for five years. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Troy and belonged to the Elks Lodge of Troy and to the Elks Ladies Social Club. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the nursing staff at SpringMeade, especially Tammy, Andrea and Jackie. Services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, April 4, 2011 at Riverside Cemetery Chapel, 101 Riverside Drive, Troy, with Rev. Ed Ellis officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
