Obituary

Michelle Shelly L. Baker Benson Coats, 34, of Troy, Ohio passed out of this life on Sunday, January 23, 2005 at the Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio after a sudden illness. She was born on February 4, 1970 in Piqua, Ohio to Rodney and Diana Supinger Baker. She is survived by her parents, father, Rodney JudyBaker of Piqua, Ohio and mother, Diana Arthur Benson of Piqua, Ohio. Also surviving are her husband, Jeffery A. Coats, whom she married on August 14, 1999; and there four children, Brittney & Kelly Scheer at home; Ashley Marie Noonan-Coats of Dayton, Ohio and Alex M. Karns-Coats of Troy, Ohio. Also surviving are her siblings, Doug Baker of Piqua, OH; Matt Levy Baker of Troy, OH; Scott Baker of Versailles, OH; Debbie Paul Bracci of Enon, OH; James Benson of Troy, OH; William Benson of Piqua, OH; and Dana Jay Kirsh of Piqua, OH. Her grandparetns, Barbara Poling of Piqua, OH and Betty Iddings of Pleasant Hill, OH. She is also survived by her cousins; aunts and uncles; several nieces and nephews; beloved pets, Cody; Wrinkles and Missy; her children's father, Bryan Scheer and paternal grandparents, George and Judy Scheer all three of Pleasant Hill, OH. She is preceded in death by grandparents, William Poling Jr. and Alva and Dorothy Supinger. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ and Elks Lodge of Troy; past member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Moose Lodge of Troy. She bowled in many leagues at Troy Bowl. She was a 1988 graduate of Newton School, she was in the marching band and choir and won the John Phillip Sousa Award. She participated in basketball and softball and assisted in the Troy and Miami East School Basketball programs. She also attended Edison State College. She wrote music and a children's book that she hoped to have published. An employee of Insightful Eyewear, Troy, she formerly worked with Gemini Eyecare and Dr. Black. She was an optician for 10 years. She also worked at BK Rootbeer stand with friends, Lisa and Clark Monroe. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 from 4-8PM at Baird Funeral Home. Service will be on Thursday, January 27, 2005 at 1:00PM at Baird Funeral Home, with Rev. Al Bastin officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.
