Michael S. Bair, age 72, was born August 17, 1949 at Stouder Memorial Hospital in Troy to parents Frank and Betty Bair. He attended Elizabeth Elementary School, Miami East Junior High and graduated from Miami East High School in the class of 1968. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1970-1974 and spent three years as a signal man on an aircraft carrier, the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. The ship made three trips to the Mediterranean which allowed him to visit ports in Greece, Italy, France and Spain. After Mike returned home from the Navy he attended Edison State Community College and was in the school's first graduating class.
On December 18, 1976 he married Diana (Bowsher) Bair. Together they had two sons, Roger and Andy. Mike and Diana enjoyed 41 years of marriage before Diana passed on September 3, 2018.
Mike's first job, when he was in high school was at the Ontario store in Troy. After his time in the Navy, he worked at Kantwet (Evenflow) in Piqua, the City of Troy's Building Inspection Department and Repacorp in Tipp City. He was a 10-year member of Miami County 4-H and an advisor for 12 years. Mike was a member of Cove Spring Grange and a member of Lostcreek United Church of Christ, where he was a member of the choir.
Mike passed away on October 16, 2021 at Upper Valley Medical Center and is survived by his sons: Roger and Andy both of Troy; mother: Betty of Casstown; and brother: Rodney of St. Paris. Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Lostcreek United Church of Christ, 7007 E. Troy-Urbana Road, Casstown with interment in Casstown Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 PM on Thursday at the church.
