Obituary

Merril V. Grove, age 91, of Troy, OH passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the Hospice of Dayton.  He was born on December 29, 1922 in East Lynn, IL to the late Jesse A. and Agda (Anderson) Grove.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years: Laura Jean (Vannoy); daughter: Denise Grove of Troy; sister:  Bertha Terry of Tennessee; brother:  Leland "Pete" Grove of Illinois; and nieces and nephews including nephew:  Michael Scarff of Troy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Merril was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Troy; a 50-plus year member of the Star Lodge #709 F&AM of Hoopeston, IL and the Scottish Rite Valley Dayton.  He proudly served his country as a member of the US Army during WWII.  He was a former realty salesman with Grove Realty and Matthew Coate Realty.  He was co-owner of the Airline Barbershop and previously worked at Aeroproducts and McCauley in Vandalia.  He retired as a machinist with Piqua Engineering .

Funeral Service will be held 1:00PM Friday, October 31, 2014 at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy with the Rev. David Leckrone officiating.  Interment will follow in Casstown Cemetery, Casstown, OH with Veterans memorial honor guard services.  The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00PM on Friday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Avenue, Dayton, OH 45420 or the First United Methodist Church, 110 West Franklin Street, Troy, Ohio 45373.
