Melissa Jo Basil, age 50, of Troy, passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at her residence.  She was born on October 11, 1970 in Troy to the late Steven James Estes and Joyce A. (Hofacker) Estes.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her stepmom: Kathy Estes of Troy; children: Jordan (Britney Hall) Estes of Englewood, Christopher (Heather) Basil of Urbana and Keiona Basil of Troy; siblings: Allison (Paul) Snapp of Bellefontaine, Renee (David) Ernst of Canton, GA, Chad (Heidi) Estes of Troy and Zechariah Ellis of Canton, GA; and one grandchild: Izekiel Estes.  In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her stepfather: Fred Ellis.

Melissa was a former STNA at several nursing homes in the area.  She loved plants, her dogs and family.  She also loved reading and scary movies.

Memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Baird Funeral Home in Troy.  Family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
