Maxine Nadine Mertz 82, of Troy died Friday May 19, 2006 at her residence. She was born April 24, 1924 in Celina, Ohio to the late Andrew and Elmira Smith Baugher. She is also preceded in death by her husband Robert G. Mertz; 2 sisters Goldie Clemons and Valla Gish; 3 brothers Dillon, Forrest and Bevon Baugher. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-laws Michael L. and Belinda Mertz of Piqua, Robert E. and Stephanie Mertz of Troy; daughters and sons-in-laws Patricia K. and Lee Helman of Troy, Kathy M. and Larry Goodman of Troy; sister Opal Fogt of Piqua and brother Herschel Baugher of Florida; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Troy; VFW Women's Auxillary; Fraternal Order of Eagles #971 and Troy Senior Citizens. She retired in 1987 from Troy Sunshade after 20 years of service. Funeral services will be Tuesday May 23, 2006 at 10:00AM at Baird Funeral Home with the Rev. Fr. James Duell officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park in Covington. Friends may call on the family Monday May 22, 2006 from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County.
