Max A. Myers, 68, died Sunday, March 31 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy, OH. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mariana Myers; daughters and son-in-law, Melinda K and Charles Pehlps and Margo A. Myers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clark and Leannah Myers, and brothers, Donald and Randall Myers. Mr. Myers was a graduate of Lima South High School and Ohio Northern University. He served two years in the US Army where he coordinated medical services at a U.S. military missile unit. He joined M & R Drug Co. and became a partner in 1965. He operated two pharmacy locations in Troy and card shops in Dayton, Tipp City, Bellefontaine and Troy. He retired from the pharmacy business in 1977 and continued operation of the card shops. He was past chairman of the Troy Area Chamber of Commerce; chairman of several Chamber committees and was founding chair of the Business-Economic Committee; past president of the Troy Development Council; Campaign Chairman of Troy United Fund and president in 1978 and 79; active member of Downtown Troy Business Association and founding member of Troy Main Street Association; past director of Star Bank and former distribution committee member of the Troy Foundation; former member of Troy Jaycees and Troy Rotary Club. He was Distinguished Citizen of the year by the Troy Area Chamber of Commerce in 1980. Mr. Myers was a past member of the Board of Directors and past president with the Miami Valley Pharmaceutical Association. He served as youngest president of the Ohio State Pharmaceutical Association in 1970 and then named chairman of the board in 1971. Mr. Myers was recognized as Retailer of the Year in 1964 by the Ohio Drug Travelers Association and remained active with the pharmaceutical associations through committee appointments. He enjoyed traveling extensively with his family and was widley recognized for his vast knowledge of fine wines. Visitation for Mr. Myers will be at Baird Funeral Home from 5-8PM on Tuesday, April 2,2002. Services will be held at 10:30AM Wednesday, April 3 at the Funeral Home.
