Troy resident, Max Leroy McDaniel 66, son of the late Carl E. and Betty L. Peck McDaniel, died Saturday October 9, 2004 unexpectedly at his residence. He is survived by his widow, Bessie Jane Rosenbalm McDaniel; three daughters, Mrs. Glen P. Monique Quillen of Troy, Ms Michelle Hare and Mr. Tim Thompson of Troy, and Mrs. Rick Beth Green of Piqua; seven grandchildren; his stepfather George "Pete" Spears of Jasper, Indiana; two sisters Mrs. David Wanda Stone, and Linda Tedrow and two brothers George F. and Karlas R. Spears all of Southern Indiana. Mr. McDaniel was preceded in death by his mother and father, one brother and one sister. Mr. McDaniel served on active duty in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. He retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserve, 401st Combat Logistics Sqdn in 1984 as a Chief Master Sergeant E-9. He was a Life member of VFW Post #5436 and AMVETS Post 8. He had served as Commander in both of these organizations. He was a member of the American Legion #184, New Carlisle, the Troy Elks #833, and the Moose Lodge #1044. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the University of New York in 1984. He retired in 1992 from the United States Postal Service, as Postmaster of Fletcher, Ohio. Mr. McDaniel was an Elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. Services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday October 12, 2004 at the Baird Funeral Home, 555 N. Market St. Troy Ohio with Bishop Grant Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington, Ohio with military honors at the graveside. Friends may call on the family Mon. Oct. 11, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. It is requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Troy Historical Society E. Main St. Troy, Ohio in Mr. McDaniel's name.
