Max Hayes Duff, 65, of Casstown, Ohio, died peacefully in his sleep early Wednesday morning, October 6. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Sara Lee Resler Duff, and their five children and their spouses, Rita J. Dotson of Colorado Springs, CO; Christopher H. Duff Marilyn of Casstown; Melinda S. Laughman Jon of Jefferson, GA; Jonathan D. Duff Regina of Fletcher; and Lucia A. Duncan Omer of Louisville, KY. Max is also survived by eight adoring grandchildren: Jenna Duff, Nicholas Duff deceased; Mallory, Jesse and Madeline Laughman; Stephanie and Zachary Duff; and Veronica and Jon Max Dotson. He also left behind his sister, Patricia Marlow Robert of Troy; brother-in-law, Gene Resler Judy of Conover; parents-in-law, Floyd and Josephine Drake Resler of Conover; life-long best friend, Carl ''Smoke'' Shoup Mary of Lostcreek Township and a long list of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, cousins and wonderful friends and co-workers. Max was born October 19, 1938 in the home of his parents, Melvin and Marguerite McDonald Duff of Casstown, both of whom preceded him in death. At a very young age, he was befriended and mentored by Fred Knoop deceased and his family of Casstown. Max was a retired sheet metal worker of Local Union #24 out of Dayton, Ohio, a tin knocker by trade but a farmer always at heart. He was a member of the Troy Fish & Game and the AmVets. He also attended Fletcher United Methodist Church. His ready smile, great laugh, and quick wit will be missed by all who came in contact with him. Rev. Bonita Wood and Rev. Lindsey Dudley will be officiating the service. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Max H. and Nicholas D. Duff FFA Scholarship fund at Miami East High School checks made payable to: Miami East FFA.
