Matilda Charles, 85, died at her niece's residence on Monday April 2, 2002. She is survived by two children, Paul May and Helen Thomas; two special nieces, Addie Massingill and Debbie Iddings; sisters, Kattie McCoy and Nancy May; brother, David May. Mrs. Charles was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Addie May May; a son, Willie James Ratliff; three sisters, Lydia Fitch, Ethel Ward and Dora Ward; two brothers, Allen and Ralph B. May and three grandchildren. Mrs. Charles was a member of the Troy Freewill Baptist Church; and was a retired housekeeper. Visitation for Mrs. Charles will be from 5-8PM Thursday, April 4, with a funeral service at 11:00 Friday, April 5, 2002 at Baird Funeral Home in Troy with Rev. Ed Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Miami Memorial Park, Covington Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County.
