Mary E. Varney Hensley, age 78, of Troy, OH, passed away on September 23, 2024, at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy. She was born on August 9, 1946, in Pigeon Roost, KY to the late Lewis and Verbie Marie (Lane) Varney.

Mary is survived by her husband of 36 years, Douglas Hensley; children: Kathy Darlene Walters of London, OH and Tim (Amy) Smith of Covington, OH; step children: Chester (Julie) Smith of Troy and Lisa (Les) Lammers of MO: grandchildren: Cassie Houston and Matthew (Tabitha) Walters; step grandchild: Misty Dawn: great-grandchildren: Aiden, Colton, Braylen and Levi Lipker; brother: Bill Varney of Stone, KY. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son: Gregory Eugene Smith; brothers: Billy Ray Varney and Monroe Varney; sisters: Madeline Varney, Allene Reynolds, Grace Stepp, Lois Lowe and infant Sylvia Jean Varney; stepsons: Lester Smith; step grandson: Gregory Eugene Smith.

Mary was a stay at home mom and provided childcare in her home for over 25 years. She was a member of Troy Freewill Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00PM on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Baird Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Stepp officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Family and friends may call from 10:00AM-12:00PM Saturday at the funeral home.
