Obituary

It is with a mixture of sadness and joy that we announce that Mary Lou (Brown) Larck left us for her heavenly home on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 while at VanCrest (Koester Pavilion) after her valiant fight with Alzheimer's. Mary Lou was born December 27,1943 in Troy, OH to Belva (Bill) and Flora Brown, and was 81 at the time of her passing.

Mary Lou found her life's calling as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and caregiver to so many.  In the late 1970s, Mary Lou obtained her Nursing Assistant certificate and began working at Dettmer Hospital  in Troy.  When they moved to the VanGuard (Koester Pavilion) building, Mary Lou made the move as well.  She worked in the Alzheimer's unit (Freedom Court), until she retired in 2008, with 30 years of service.

Mary Lou loved music and would often be heard humming and dancing with the residents or her grandchildren.   She enjoyed collecting Beanie Babies, carousel horses, jigsaw puzzles, planting flowers, and coloring.  She was a long-time member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Troy.

Mary Lou spent the last 25 years truly happy, laughing and loving Otis Burton of Tipp City.  Mary Lou was also blessed with 2 children; Tim (Janet) Larck and Beth Larck both of Troy; 3 grandchildren Megan (Frank) Watkins of Casstown, Justin (Carrie) Larck and Drew (Ashley) Larck both of Troy; and 8 great-grand children: Ayden, Nicholas, Landon, Kylee, Hudson, Oliver, Amelia, and Arlo.  In addition, Mary Lou is survived by her sister; Phyllis Brown of New Carlisle, her favorite niece Melissa Mitchell of Christiansburg, her dear co-workers, numerous friends and extended family.  Mary Lou was preceeded in death by both of her parents and her best friend/cousin Betty Lou (Brown) Baker.

Visitation will be held at Baird Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 11 2025.  Friends and family may call between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM.  Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, starting at 11:00 AM, with the Pastor Matt Harbor, officiating.  Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Troy.  The family would like to thank all the staff at Koester for their dedicated care and compassion of Mary Lou during the last 6 years.
