Mary E. Gage Mary E. Gage, age 89, of Troy, Ohio, passed away at 6:10PM on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. She was born on February 24, 1922 in Pitsburg, Ohio to the late Preston and Viola Godown Cross. She married Carl Smith in 1944 and he preceded her in death. She later married Sherman F. Gage in 1967 and he passed away on November 12, 1991. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Marvin and Suzette Smith of Troy and Richard and Robyn Smith of Tipp City, Ohio; two daughters and a son-in-law: Sandy Smith of Troy and Marilyn and Bob McIlvain of Tipp City, Ohio; daughter-in-law: Jan Smith of Ashland, Ohio; two sisters: Kathleen Root of Troy, Joan Welbaum of Troy; one brother, Gail Cross of West Milton, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Spike. In addition to her parents and her spouses, Mary was preceded in death by one son, Randy Smith on October 22, 2004; brothers, Wilford, Robert and Dean Cross; sisters: Wilma Baker and Glenna Sharp; and three great-grandchildren. Mary had been a resident of Troy for the last 23 years. She was a member of the Eagles, West Milton, Ohio. Her hobbies included mushroom hunting, playing bingo, dice games, gambling and cards, cards, cards! But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She retired from National Seating in Mansfield, Ohio. A memorial service will be held at 10:30AM on Monday, March 28, 2011 at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, with Pastor John Hughes officiating. Interment will take place in Miami Memorial Park, Covington, Ohio. Friends may call from 9:30-10:30AM on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Cincinnati, OH Office, 644 Linn Street, Suite 304, Cincinnati, Ohio 45203.
