Obituary

Mary F. Smith Mary F. Smith, 94, formerly of Troy, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2007 in Beavercreek, Ohio. She was born August 13, 1912 in Fayette County, Ohio to the late Elmer O. Noble and Margaret Goldsbury Noble. Her husband, Edgar F. Smith of Troy, and a brother, Hershel Noble, preceded her in death. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Don Williams of Kettering and Mary Ellen and Frank Elliot of Minneapolis, Minn.; two grandsons, Bruce and Caryn Williams of Englewood, Ohio and Mark and Cathie Williams of Seattle, Wash.; four great-grandchildren, Brandon and Lauren Williams of Englewood and Adam and Emily Williams of Seattle. Mrs. Smith was a 1931 first honors graduate of Washington Court House High School and also a graduate of Wilmington College. She taught in Fayette County for several years. In Troy, Mary taught kindergarten for nine years at Heywood and Hook Schools and was a Girl Scout leader and neighborhood chairman. She wrote a book for teachers about kindergarten activities. Mary was a member of the Piqua chapter of the D.A.R., the Bruckner Nature Center and Friends of the Library. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church in Washington Court House. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2007 in Washington Cemetery, Washington Court House. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hook School, 729 Trade Sq. W., Troy, Ohio 45373. Condolences to the family may also be expressed through www.bairdfuneralhome.com.
