Mary J. Drill, age 86, of Troy, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.  She was born on March 7, 1935, in Portland, IN, to the late Jay and Ruth (Crebb) Weaver.

Mary is survived by four children: Mary E. (Rodney) Westfall of Troy, Norman (Jeanette) Drill of Casstown, Regina Leonard of Dayton and Christopher (Michele) Drill of Troy; siblings: Ruth Ann Freeman of Tipp city and Joe (Esther) Weaver of Indianapolis, IN; seven grandchildren: Becky (Tim) Smith, Crissy Drill, Jason (Ashley) Westfall, Jessica (Drew) Ross, Jon (Crystal) Westfall, Josh Westfall and Amanda Leonard; and two great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Marion L. Drill; son: Terry Drill and son-in-law: Robert Leonard; and brother-in-law: Thomas Freeman.

Mary was a graduate of Portland High School in Indiana.  She then graduated from Ball State University with a BA Degree and University of Dayton with a Master's Degree.  She was a school teacher in several states including Alaska while following her husband's military service in the US Air Force. Her experiences included one room school houses with which she carried many fond memories. She retired from Miami East Elementary Schools in 1993.  Mary was a member of First United Methodist Church in Troy, where she was a longtime Sunday school teacher.  She was also a member of Grandmother's Club of Troy, Retired Teachers Association and the Lincoln Center in Troy. Mary was a big sports fan especially the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Bengals and the Cincinnati Reds. She loved the outdoors, watching the birds and squirrels.

Services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Baird Funeral Home in Troy with the Rev. Dr. Chris Heckaman officiating. Private family burial will be in Salamonia Cemetery in Salamonia, IN. Family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Saturday at the funeral home.
