Mary K. Shroyer Colwell, age 89, of Troy, OH died suddenly as a result of a mowing accident on Friday, May 22, 2009 at her residence. She was born March 1, 1920 in Oakwood, OH of the late Dr. Franklin I. Shroyer and Mary Josse Shroyer. She was married to Maurice F. Terry Colwell who preceded her in death on April 18, 1962. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Marylin Hlass of Canton, OH, Kathryn and Mark Hofert of Apex, N.C., and Sharon and Gary Walker of Indianapolis, IN; brother and sisters-in-law, Irving H. "Bud" Mary Belle Shroyer of Troy, OH, Louise Shroyer of Troy, OH, and Barbara Shroyer of Tipp City, OH; grandchildren, Christopher M. Kathy Hlass; Philip F. Dawn Hlass; David Debbie Hofert; Katie Andy Schmidt; Betsy Ben James; Grant Brittany Walker; and Suzanne Hofert; five grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Franklin D. Shroyer and Dean E. Shroyer; son-in-law, David Hlass; nephew, Todd Shroyer; and granddaughter, Marie Walker. She was a graduate of Oakwood High School. She attended the Leland Powers School of Theater in Boston, MA and studied at Oliver Hensdell Studio in Hollywood, CA. She attended the First United Methodist Church, Troy, OH and was a member of International Chapter P.E.O. Sisterhood. Mary K. had a life of serving others. After her husband's death, she worked in real estate with the Shroyer Brothers Construction Company. Services will be held 2:00PM Monday, May 25, 2009 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, OH with the Pastor Gary Walker officiating. Graveside service will be held 11:00AM Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Riverside Cemetery Troy, OH. Friends may call at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, OH on Sunday 4:00-8:00PM and Monday 12:00-2:00PM.
