Martin Eugene "Gene" Wilson, age 90, of Troy, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2022, at his residence.  He was born on December 22, 1931, in Troy, to the late Ralph and Edith (Brown) Wilson.

Gene is survived by his wife of 69 years: Doris (King) Wilson; two children: Thomas Eugene (partner, Kari) Wilson of Boulder, CO, and Theresa (Gary) Ellenwood of Huntingtown, MD; one sister: Janet Millhouse of Troy, OH; four grandchildren: Pierce Ellenwood, Gavin (Kayla) Ellenwood, Kelsey Ellenwood and Quinn Ellenwood; three great grandchildren: Knox Ellenwood, Coast Ellenwood and one expected soon; and his very special nieces.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother: Robert Wilson.

Gene was a member of First United Church of Christ in Troy.  He retired from B. F. Goodrich in 1992 after 44 years. Upon retiring, he became a farmer and avid wood worker.  Gene was past president of Hook Elementary PTA and Piqua Boat and Ski Club.  He was formerly the head of Dollars for Scholars and was an active member of Troy Elks Lodge #833.  During the 1950's, he was a boat racer. Into the 1960's and 1970's, he was a boat driver for national water ski tournaments.  Gene proudly served his country as a member of Ohio National Guard.  Gene attended both University of Dayton and Wesleyan University and obtained an Associate's Degree.

Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Baird Funeral Home in Troy with Pastor Lauren Allen officiating.  Private burial will be held in Riverside Cemetery in Troy.  Family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
