Martha Marie Stoltz McDaniel Martha Marie Stoltz McDaniel, 90, of Troy, went home to be with the Lord while surrounded by family members, on March 16, 2011. She was born November 21, 1920 in Elizabeth Township, Ohio to the late Russell and Ella Beals Stoltz. She married Orville J. "Mick" McDaniel, her husband of sixty years, on February 24, 1940, and he passed away on September 17, 2000. Her sister, Bernice Ratcliff, also preceded her in death. Survivors include her three daughters: Carol Dick Neal of Vinton, Ohio, Delores Ron Swallow, and Lois Swallow both of Troy; three granddaughters: Ronda Paul Hershberger, Raegan Eric Schneider, and Stacy Matt Landis. Also surviving are four great grandchildren, Justin and Eliza Hershberger, and Owen and Will Schneider. Martha was born in historic Elizabeth Township, where she lived her entire life, and graduated from Elizabeth School. Her family was one of the pioneer families to settle in Elizabeth Township. She lived on the family farm previously owned by her grandparents and parents. She lived in the home she currently resided in for 85 years. Martha was a long-time member of Cove Spring Church where she served on the Board of Deacons, helped with Sunday School, and was church clerk for 19 years. She was an active member of Women's Fellowship 40 plus years and was known for sewing strips of fabric for the "rag rugs" that the women's group used as a money making project. She was a charter member of Indian Creek Farm Bureau Council and served as secretary for Miami County Farm Bureau and represented the townships of Elizabeth, Lostcreek, and Bethel for three years. A funeral service will be held at 11:30AM on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, with interment to follow in Casstown Cemetery, Casstown, Ohio.
