MARTHA R. FRIEND, AGE 98, of Troy, passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at Brookdale of Troy. She was born in July 1920 and married H.M. "Mickey" Friend in July 1951. He preceded her in death in July 1999.

Martha is survived by her son: Jeffrey Friend, and his wife, Debra of Tipp City, OH; two grandchildren: Abby (Bryan) Ramos of Tipp City, and Elizabeth (Lars) Miller of Atlanta, GA; five great-grandchildren, and niece Sherry Hysinger of Tipp City. In addition to her parents, Robert and Edyth, and husband, she was preceded in death by her son: Michael Fowler; brother: Robert Hayes; and nephew: Douglas Hayes.

Martha graduated from Staunton High School in 1933. She was a member of First United Church of Christ of Troy. She was also a member of Ladies Social Club, Troy Elks, and Troy Senior Citizens Center. Martha worked for Hobart Corporation as an Executive Secretary before retiring in 1979. She was a former volunteer for Stouder Hospital Auxiliary and Hospice of Miami County.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 22, 2018, at Baird Funeral Home in Troy. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Troy. Friends may call from 1:00 – 2:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
