Marjorie June (Wenrick) Voris, age 92, of Troy, Ohio passed away on May 1, 2024 at Piqua Manor. She was born on May 29, 1931 in Covington to the late Wilbur and Clara (Roeth) Wenrick and moved to Troy in 1947.
She is survived by her children: Thomas Lynn (Elizabeth) Voris II of New Carlisle, Wayne Alan (Della) Voris of Florence, KY, Jodell (Thomas) Nick of Gray, ME, and Charlotte (Mark) Stephenson of Troy; grandchildren: TJ (Sarah) Karns, Abbey (Matthew) Ball, Shayne (Alexandra)Voris, Casey (AJ) Schreiver, Zachary Stephenson, Derek Stephenson and Dallas Voris; and great grandchildren: Thomas Knox Karns, Brecklyn Schreiver, Everyn Voris, Vinn Schreiver, Lila Ball, Keaton Voris and Blakley Schreiver. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years: Thomas Voris; brother: Raymond Wenrick; and sisters: Thelma Anderson and Gladys Davis.
Marge was a 1949 graduate of Troy High School. She was a past member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Covington and a longtime member of First Lutheran Church in Troy. She served as a Sunday School teacher, member of church WELCA, Past President of ELCW, member of the Senior Choir and many church projects. She began the church's Blanket of Love Meals for community needy and lonely. She was past member of Troy Council of Churches and coordinator for the first Troy Crop Walk. She was the fraternal coordinator for Lutheran Brotherhood Thrivent Insurance projects and volunteer for Troy Partners in Hope. She was a member of the Troy Senior Citizens and the Lincoln Community Center.
She was employed in her earlier years at the Mayflower Sweet Shop, Steil-Grunder-Dye and Montgomery Ward. She spent the majority of her career years in the healthcare field serving at Stouder Memorial Hospital, local physician offices and Hospice of Miami County. Her most important job was being a mom and caring for her grandkids.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Baird Funeral Home, Troy with interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
