Marguerite Thorn,67, of Troy, died at her residence on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002 after battling with ALS Lou Gehrig's Disease. She was born to the late Zoll and Myrtle Asbury Ravenscraft on March 3, 1935. She is also preceded in death by her husband Paul K. Thorn, passing just Aug. 18, 2002. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-laws; Deborah and John Kingham; Tina and John Zerkle; Paula and Ben Mitchell, and daughter Teresa Harshbarger. Sisters and brother-in-law Lillian and Ron Simpson and Rosamond Ritchie; Brother and sister-in-law Glendon and Sue Ravenscraft. Grandchildren: Jamie, Josh, and Justin Nern; Emily Taylor; Tyler and Taryn Laughman; Chelsey Hill; Casey and Ashland Barker. Great Grandchildren: Tristan, Brayden and Abbe Nern. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Troy; American Business Womens Association and Former EMT with the Troy Emergency Crew. Marguerite was instrumental in establishing an ALS Support Group Chapter in the Dayton Area and she was actively involved in fundraising efforts and creating awareness of ALS in the area. She was a graduate of the Licensed Practical Nursing School at Ball Hospital, Muncie, Indiana. She retired as an LPN formerly with Stouder Hospital; Dr. Kenneth Smith Practice and the Koester Pavilion, Troy. Services will be held Wed. Dec. 18, 2002 at the First United Methodist Church, Troy with interment in Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Friends may call at Baird Funeral Home Tues. Dec. 17, 2002 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami Co. or ALS Association of Columbus.
