Margaret R. Johnston Valentine Margaret R. Johnston Valentine, age 99, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at the Alterra Sterling House, Piqua, Ohio. She was born on October 10, 1913 in Troy, Ohio, to the late Louis A. and Emma Russell Johnston. Her husband of 69 years, Howard F. Valentine, preceded her in death one year ago today on March 27, 2012. She is survived by one brother and two sisters-in-law, James and Darlene Johnston of The Villages, Florida, and Margaret Johnston of Troy; one sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Lester Rosenbaum of Troy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Valentine was preceded in death by her brother, William Johnston; brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Tillie Johnston; and sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Gordon Jones. She was a 1932 graduate of Troy High School. She was employed with Miles Jewelry Store before her marriage on November 6, 1943. In 1946, the couple moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where they lived until 2001. They have resided at the Alterra Sterling House since that time. Services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, with Rev. Ed Ellis officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.
