MARGARET GHEEN, age 98, of Casstown passed away Friday, June 16, 2017 at Koester Pavilion in Troy. She was born April 22, 1919 in Cincinnati to the late Charles and Susie (Paddison) Martin.   Margaret married Arthur C. Gheen in 1943 and he preceded her in death in 1996.

Margaret is survived by her two sons: Dennis Gheen of Troy and Darryl (Beverly) Gheen of Piqua; 4 grandchildren: Jason (Hazel) Gheen, Andi (Derek) Burghardt, Tom (Sarah) Gheen and Tami (Anthony) Delimpo; 15 great grandchildren; and special niece: Rita Martin of Arlington Texas.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Roland and Harold Martin.

Margaret started teaching in 1941 and retired from Miami East Schools in 1979 teaching English and Home Economics. She was a graduate of Miami University; past president of the Miami East Education Association; life member of the Ohio Education Association where she served on the State of Humanics Committee; member of the Western Ohio Education Association and National Education Association as well as a member of the PTA of each school in which whe taught; a 75 year member of Cove Spring Grange where she served as secretary for 35 years and made over 3000 baby quilts for needy infants; 42 year member of Christiansburg O.E.S. where she served as secretary for 10 years; worked at the Miami County Fairgrounds for over 35 years; Charter member of the Elizabeth Historical Society; belonged to the Miami County Homemaker's Club; a member of Asbury Methodist Church in Cincinnati and attended Fletcher United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the Baird Funeral Home in Troy with Pastor Cindee Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Troy. Friends may call from 4-7 PM on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the funeral home with services by Cove Spring Grange at 7:00PM.
