Marcella Elizabeth Shaffer, age 84, of Huntsville, Ohio; formerly of Troy passed away on Friday, May 30, 2014 at her residence. She was born on February 1, 1930 in Gettysburg, Ohio to the late Robert Luther Swabb and Lurainia Pearl (Oldfather) Swabb. She married William Eugene Shaffer on April 2, 1948 in Richmond, Indiana and he preceded her in death in 2005.
Marcella is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Robert Eugene and Stacy Shaffer of Troy and Gary Lee and Erica Shaffer of Sidney; daughter and sons-in-law: Vicki Joan and Joe Kindle of Huntsville and James Reigelsperger of Fletcher; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren and two great-greatgrandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her spouse, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Tina Marie Reigelsperger; grandchildren, Miranda, Gary Lee, and Brett; brothers, Calvin Wayne Swabb, Max LeRoy Swabb and Robert Luther Swabb Jr.; sisters, Dollie Faye Smith, Ethel May Kindell, Betty Jean Levering, and Shirley Ilene Swabb.
Marcella worked on Neal's Farm as she was growing up. She was later employed with K's Hamburger Shop, Howard Johnsons, Lancers Meats, Landes Meats, and Country Mart and previously operated the Alcony General Store.
She enjoyed arts and crafts, crocheting, taking many trips to Tennessee, family reunions, and watching Cincinnati Reds baseball games on TV. She loved when her children and grandchildren, nieces and nephews would call and come to visit her.
Services will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Universal Hospice Care in Bellefontaine, Ohio.
