Marcella A. Schaefer, age 101, of Piqua, OH passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at her residence.  She was born on March 20, 1915 in Miami County, OH to the late Raymond and Lillie (Brown) Hirsch.  She was married to Harley Schaefer and he preceded her in death.

Marcella is survived by her sister: Janet Teach of Piqua; nieces:  Connie Teach McKenzie of Piqua and Sharon Hirsch Chaney of Troy; great-nieces: Deany Chaney Earhart, Angela McKenzie, Melissa McKenzie Hinton, Sara Teach Webster, Michelle Teach Clark, Tonda Teach Silverio, Amanda Teach and Charla James Knoop; great-nephews: Heath Chaney, Gary Teach, Jr., Eldridge James and Richard James; and many great great and great great great nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and her husband, Marcella was preceded in death by two nephews: Gary Teach, Sr. and Craig Teach; one niece: Joan Hirsch James; great nephew: Anthony "Tony" James; and two brothers: Marvin and Eldridge Hirsch.

Marcella attended Staunton Schools.  She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Troy and the Asbury Circle of the church.  She was a former member of the Troy Senior Citizens.  She retired from Stouder Memorial Hospital in Troy.  She loved to read magazines and newspapers.  Marcella always looked after everyone.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 2, 2016 at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, OH.  Interment will be follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 – 2:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
