Lowell C. "Chet" Ward Lowell C. "Chet" Ward, age 92, of Troy, Ohio passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. He was born on September 9, 1918 in Laura, Ohio to the late Harrison Clyde and Rosabelle Alexander Ward. He was married to Freda Mae Hodges Ward and she preceded him in death on February 10, 2007. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Robyn and Charles Rader of Troy; two grandchildren: Jennifer Bretland and Jason Rader; six great-grandchildren; two sisters: Dorotha Gingrich of Troy and Gladys Stanley of Piqua, Ohio; and one brother, Kenneth Ward of Troy. In addition to his parents and his wife, Mr. Ward was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. He was a US Army Air Corps Veteran having served from 1941-1945 and was a member of Troy Church of the Brethren. Mr. Ward worked as a supervisor at Hobart Corp. for 43 years before his retirement. He was a member of the Hobart Quarter Century Club. Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy with Rev. Sheila Shumaker officiating. Interment will follow in Casstown Cemetery, Casstown, Ohio with VFW Memorial Honor Guard at the graveside. Friends may call from 4-7PM on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the funeral home.
