Linda Challender VandeKemp, 57, of Troy, Ohio passed out of this life on Thursday, January 20, 2005 at the Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy, Ohio. She was born on May 17, 1947 in Ionia, Michigan to the late Richard Paul and Clarice Shirley Paulsen Challender Sr. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerrit VandeKemp who passed on August 14, 1995. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law; Heidi S. VandeKemp of Troy, OH; Kristi and David Lehman of Troy, OH; Susan and Steve Franko of Mt. Vernon, OH; son and daughter-in-law; Gerrit Jon and Scotta VandeKemp of Phoenix, AZ. Also surviving are brothers, John Callender and Richard Challender Jr. both of Michigan. She has six grandchildren, Kayla Lehman; Kassie Lehman; Breah Franko; Karlie Lehman; Gerrit Franko and Kami Lehman. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, and one sisterr, Shirley Berman. She was a member of the Troy Church of the Nazarene; coordinator of the Care and Share; Longtime school volunteer; Volunteer with Ginghamsburg Clothes Line and the Womens Center. She retired in 1996 from Hobart Brothers Company, Troy, Ohio. Services will be at 11:00AM Monday, January 24, 2005 at the Troy Church of the Nazarene, Troy, Ohio with Rev. Sam Barber officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy, Ohio. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 23, 2005, from 2-5PM at the Barid Funeral Home, Troy, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
