Lester E. Shaffer Lester E. Shaffer, 81 of Piqua, Ohio formerly of Troy, died at 9:20PM on Friday, May 14, 2010 at Heartland of Piqua. He was born February 6, 1929 in Troy, Ohio to the late Roy and Ethel Siler Shaffer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie C. McKinley Shaffer in 2001; stepson, Jerry Sowers; three sisters: Luella, Dorothy, and Martha; four brothers: Norbert, Earl, Gilbert and Robert. He is survived by a stepdaughter, Bianca Richard Cruikshank of Piqua; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Fred and Jackie Shaffer of Piqua and Raymond and Connie Shaffer of Greenville; sister, Opal Eileen Creager of Arizona; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was a 1947 graduate of Piqua Central, a US Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of Central Baptist Church in Piqua. He retired in 1994 as a machine operator for Miami Industries with over 21 years of service. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 2:00PM at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Randall Satchwell officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Troy with Military Honors. Friends may call on the family two hours prior to the service from 12-2PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
