Lester Bowers, age 85, of Troy, passed on at SpringMeade Health Center on Thursday, April 16, 2009. He was born to the late Horace and Alma Hartley Bowers. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Cleon Studebaker; sons Sid Jo Anne of Marietta; Todd Missy of Sayre, PA; Keith of Seattle, WA; and daughter Ann Bruce McKenzie of Tipp City; along with ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. One brother, Myron Esther Bowers of Troy, also survives. Lester was a graduate of Bethel Schools and the Ohio State University. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Lester retired as a cattle buyer from Dinner Bell Foods. He was a member of the Casstown United Methodist Church, a former school board member for Miami East Schools, and a former trustee of Brukner Nature Center. Visitation will be on Monday morning, April 20, 2009, from 10:00 until 11:30 at the Casstown United Methodist Church, with the service to follow at 11:30 AM. Rev. David Ramming will officiate. Burial will follow at Casstown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Lester and Cleon Bowers Family Scholarship Fund for Miami East Schools.
