Leonard Lee Dickess, age 79, of Troy, Ohio, passed away at 3:07AM on Friday, July 8, 2011 at his residence. He was born on November 21, 1931 in Ironton, Ohio to the late Clyde and Anna Noble Dickess. His loving wife, Mary "Margie" Rooks Dickess, survives. Other survivors include three children: Toby L. Dickess of Troy, Karla S. Peffly William of Troy and Leonard Lee Dickess II Wanda of Troy; one brother, Franklin Haas of Ironton, Ohio; five grandchildren: Kristin M. Moser Jeremy of Troy, Alyssa M. Dickess of Xenia, Ohio, William R. Peffly II of Vandalia, Ohio, Erika L. Dickess of Troy and Leah M. Dickess of Sidney, Ohio; and two great-grandchildren: Ethan A. Moser of Troy and Chloe J. Peffly of Vandalia. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dickess was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and James Dickess. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was a US Navy veteran having served in Korea and was a member of the Troy Elks, VFW and American Legion. He was also a past board member of University of Dayton Law School. He loved to golf and had a hole in one. Mr. Dickess was founder and owner/operator of Amity Mold Company and Kare Plastics Company both of Tipp City, Ohio. He was a member of DTMA Dayton Tooling & Machining Association and NTMA National Tooling & Machining Association. In 1977, he was Dayton Businessman of the Year. A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, with Pastor Danny Bever officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy, with VFW Honor Guard at the graveside. Friends may call from 5-8PM on Monday at the funeral home.
