Lelia Melvin passed peacefully on March 17, 2022 at Miami County Hospice Unit with loved ones by her side.  Lelia was born in Mississippi on May 17, 1943 to Leonard and Vergene Wetz.  She was married to Jerry Melvin of Troy, Ohio for 60 years.   While raising a family with four children she earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from Edison State University.   As a registered nurse she worked for Dettmer Hospital, Stouder Memorial Hospital, Catholic Social Services and was also the Executive Director for Miami County American Cancer Society and a Health Care Facilities Compliance Consultant for the State of Ohio.

Lil is survived by her husband Jerry and four children, Chris (Paula) Melvin of Piqua, Ohio; Craig (Karen) Melvin of Cincinnati, Ohio; Chad Melvin and significant other Tammy Platfoot of Troy, Ohio; Corinne (Matt) Lavy of Piqua, Ohio; ten grandchildren Miranda, Jordan, Kaitlyn, Kendra, Nicole, Adam, Alex, Jacob, Jaryn, Austin; four great grandchildren Xander, Carter, Avalyn, Skylar; brother Butch (Kim) Wetz; sister Elaine (Gary) Wiepking.

Lee enjoyed volunteering with various civic and health-related organizations and at the Troy Church of the Brethren.  She loved to travel with her husband and family, spending time with her grandchildren, talking and laughing with her close friends, reading and sewing, as time allowed.

Lee's family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the care and support provided by Andrea and the rest of the staff at Miami County Hospice.   Thank you for the assistance provided to Jerry and Jaryn in caring for Lee at home and the love expressed by all during Lee's final days at the Hospice Unit.

Funeral service will be held at 12PM on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Baird Funeral Home  with Rev. Jon Keller officiating.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11AM-12PM.
