Leah E. Barber Wenger Leah E. Barber Wenger, 90, of Troy, died Monday, March 19, 2007. She was born February 8, 1917 in Randolph County, IN to the late Marion William and Bertha Bower Pingry. She was married to Rev. Frederick Barber who preceded her in death in 1987, and later married Rev. Samuel "Russell" Wenger who passed away in 2002. She is survived by her son and daughters-in-law: Rev. Ronald and Shirley Barber of Troy, OH, and Ruth Barber of Mt. Vernon, OH; sister: Esther Jackson of Muncie, IN; five grandchildren: Bettie and David Rountree of Middletown, OH; Ronda and Rev. Gary Morgan of Urbana, OH; Sherry Lee and David Frye of Troy, OH; Jennifer and Scott Couchenour of Salem, OH, and Rev. Samuel and Jill Barber of Troy, OH; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by the Wenger family of Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents; first and second husbands; two sons: Rev. Marion "Skip" Barber and infant son Phillip Barber; three brothers: Dr. Robert Pingry, Warren Pingry, and Morris Pingry; and one sister: Elverda Songer. Mrs. Wenger was a faithful pastor's wife for over 30 years. She was also the former activities director at the nursing home in Carlisle and taught piano for 20 years. She has been a resident of Troy since 2003 and was a member of Troy Church of the Nazarene. Services will be 10:00AM Thursday, March 22, 2007 at Troy Church of the Nazarene. Grandson, Rev. Samuel Barber, will be officiating and other grandchildren and great-grandchildren will participate. Interment will be in Elm Ridge Memorial Park, Muncie, IN with graveside at 2:00PM Thursday, March 22. Friends may call from 5-8PM Wednesday, March 21 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy. Memorial contributions may be made to Troy Church of the Nazarene.
