LAWRENCE E. "RED" BARNES, age 81, of Fletcher, passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Troy Hospital – Kettering Health Network.  He was born in Richlands, VA on September 8, 1939 to the late Arthur Creed and Cynthia Ellen (Quesenberry) Barnes.

Lawrence is survived by his wife of over 60 years: Dorothy Sue "Shirley" (Johnson) Barnes; children: Tina (Michael) Force of Fletcher and Scott (Bert) Barnes of Troy; five grandchildren: Brandon (Fiancé Haley Etherington) Force; Mikey Close; Stevie Barnes; Megan (Logan) Wise; and Kelsey Barnes; and three great grandchildren: Lincoln, Olivia and Maggie.  Lawrence was preceded in death by a son: Donald E. Barnes; 12 siblings; and great grandson: Declan.

Lawrence served his country in the US National Guard.   He worked for 35 years at Hobart Manufacturing - Troy Sunshade Company.  He loved to hunt and fish and especially watch his grandchildren in their sporting activities.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy.  Family will receive friends from 11AM-1PM prior to the service. Burial will follow in Fletcher Cemetery, Fletcher.
