Obituary

Kathryn J. Epperson Kathryn J. Epperson of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away after a long hospitalization on January 18, 2013. Kay was born in Hamilton, Ohio on April 1, 1928 to Ernest and Susan Roemer. Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, was one sister, Waneta Weber, and one brother, Ernest Roemer Jr. She leaves behind her husband of sixty years, Eugene Epperson, and three nieces. Kay will be remembered as the teacher from Troy, Ohio who never gave up on a student. She had kept in contact with so many of those previously in her class and their families. Kay taught at Cookson Elementary from 1963 to 1989. Kay will also be missed by the many people who received cookies three times a year from the over 100 dozen plus she would bake for Halloween, Christmas and Valentine's Day each year. Her last cookies were mailed or delivered for Halloween 2012. Per Kay's request, her ashes were scattered at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific aka Punch Bowl in Honolulu where a memorial stone will be placed. Private services were held on January 25th. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kay Epperson Memorial Scholarship c/o The Troy Foundation, 216 W. Franklin St., Troy, Ohio 45373.
