Katha K. Kievit, age 75, of Maineville, OH, passed away on April 9, 2025 at Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati.  She was born on January 15, 1950 in Troy, Ohio to the late Burton Earl and Mary Imo (Shields) Sullenberger.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years: David John Kievit; two children: Christina Erin Kievit and Cailie Anne Nicole Kievit both of Carmel, Indiana.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Tom Sullenberger and Kenneth Michael (Mike) Sullenberger.

Katha attended Troy HS ('68) and Bowling Green State University where she earned her Bachelors of Science in Education.  She worked for 11 years in Commercial Insurance Underwriting, completing her CPCU during that time. She returned to education after she received her reading specialist degree from Xavier University. She was a Special Needs Aide at Madeira School District and did private tutoring across Cincinnati.

She was a member of Lakeview UCC in Maineville, the Warren County Quilt Guild, Midwest Fabric Dating Group, American Quilt Study Group and the Beatrix Potter Society. The intersection of her interest in Beatrix Potter and quilt history led to her publication of research on Edmund Potter, Beatrix's grandfather and the largest printer of calico fabrics in the world in the latter part of the 19th century.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Abbottsville Cemetery. A celebration of Katha's life will be held at Lakeview UCC on April 26, 2025 at 3:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Quilt Study Group, The Lakeview Foundation or Local Reading programs.
