KARL F. BERKSHIRE

KARL F. BERKSHIRE, age 86, of Troy passed away on Tuesday, August 05, 2014 at his residence.  He was born in Springfield, OH on September 27, 1927 to the late Robert J. and Mary M. (Morris) Berkshire.  On August 21, 1949, he married Persis L. Smith.  She survives.

In addition to his wife, Karl is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law: Karlene and Marko Vandevier of Mesa, AZ, Denise Berkshire of Chillicothe, OH and Barbara and Rick Schwartz of Piqua, OH; three grandchildren: Aimee, Heather and Erick; five great grandchildren: Brandon, Britni, Adriana, Macen and Karlee; one niece: Jenny Lebold; and one nephew: Michael Berkshire.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Robert and Edward.

Karl graduated in 1947 from Troy High School.  He was a member of Franklin Lodge #14 F&AM in Troy, after belonging for 40 plus years.  Karl was also a longtime member of Miami Shores Golf Course in Troy.  He retired as a Building Superintendent for Miami County.  Karl was formerly employed with Rike's Appliances in Troy (Shaughnessey's).  Karl proudly served his country as a member of the US Navy during WW II.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 8, 2014 at Baird Funeral Home in Troy with Chaplain Candy Null officiating.  Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Troy.  Honor Guard Services will be provided at the graveside.  Friends may call from 10-11 AM on Friday at the funeral home.  Masonic services will be held prior to the funeral service on Friday.
