JOYCE "LEFTY" CAIN
Joyce "Lefty" Cain, age 88, of Troy, OH passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at the Koester Pavilion, Troy, OH. He was born on July 16, 1927 in Versailles, OH to the late Roscoe and Sylvia (Cottrell) Cain. He was married to his wife of 59 years, Janet Louise (Grigsby) Cain and she preceded him in death on April 12, 2010.
Lefty is survived by son and daughter-in-law: Ron and Pam Cain of Troy; daughters: Suzanne Haneline of Columbus and Barbara Eastman of Columbus; sister: Margaret Jean Swank of Laura; grandchildren: Ronda Walker, Anthony Cain, Julie LaCrosse, Heather Graham, Sydney Cain, Amy Laine and Matt Haneline; eleven great-grandchildren; extended family: Pam Fogt, Doris Compton and Bud Webb and their families; and special friends: Joe and Penny Ording. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by sons-in-law: Drew Haneline and Randy Eastman; twin brother: Joy Cain; and sisters: Dorothy Baker and Betty Hayes.
Lefty was a graduate of Milton Union High School. He was a US Army veteran having served in the 34 th Signal Corp during the Korean War. Lefty was a member of the Troy AmVets, Troy VFW and a former member of Moose Lodge in Troy. He retired from Hobart Brothers Co. in Troy. Lefty was a longtime part-time employee of Ording's Party Time. He enjoyed fishing at Lake Erie.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Shannon DeHart and good friend, Pastor Dalas Thompson. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Gardens, Vandalia with veterans honor guard services at the graveside. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
